Flower of Venus

The fascinating dance that Venus performs around the sun, seen from Earth, draws an amazing pentagram in the sky with the shape of a flower with five petals. Mayans were widely interested in the Venusian synodic cycle, which is the time it takes to position itself at the same point from our perspective on Earth. They managed to decipher this cycle and designed their calendars to match its 584 days duration. Venus spends 263 days as the morning star, 50 days absent from the sun's rays (superior conjunction), 236 days as the evening star and finally sets for 8 days (inferior conjunction). These orbits create the mysterious geometry also known as the Flower of Venus.
